God brought to mind a sippy cup. The sippy cup has a safety in the lid to prevent a baby or a toddler from dumping all of the contents out of it.
God is our safety. Psalm 4:8 says, “In peace, I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
Instead of a sippy cup, God calls us jars of clay. 2 Corinthians 4:7 says, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”
God wants us to take the safety and the restraints off of our sippy cups, our jars of clay. Galatians 3:23-25 says, “Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed. Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith. And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian.”
He is the river of life. His well has more than enough supply for our every need. He has more to give and when the restraints come off, that river of life will flow and flow and flow.
Take the restraints off of your jar of clay!
